About
The close should finish correctly
We're building Granite because the monthly close still runs on spreadsheets maintained alongside QuickBooks — and that's where the errors, the late nights, and the doubt come from.
Why Granite
Most growing companies don't close their books in one system. They close them in QuickBooks plus a stack of spreadsheets — a prepaid schedule here, an accrual tracker there, an allocation tab that only one person understands. Every month that logic has to be re-applied by hand, and every month is a fresh chance to get it wrong.
Granite replaces those spreadsheets with a system that holds the truth. Prepaids amortize on schedule. Accruals reverse on time. Allocations apply themselves. Sources like Brex, Stripe, Justworks, Deel, and Expensify map once and stay mapped. The close stops being a re-derivation and becomes a review.
We're not trying to make the close faster for its own sake. We're trying to make it correct — and fast follows from that.
Who's building it
Granite is built by Ben, who spent ten years in finance — the last three as head of finance at a Series A startup, closing the books in QuickBooks plus the usual stack of spreadsheets. It's a one-person company right now, which means the person who answers your email is the person who ran a close this way and then wrote the code.
The fastest way to see where things stand is the public demo. The fastest way to change where things are headed is to tell me what's wrong with it: ben@granitebooks.io.
What we believe
One source of truth
Your accounting logic should live in the ledger, not in a spreadsheet updated in parallel.
Correct over clever
A close you can trust beats a close that's merely quick. We optimize for ties-out, not theatrics.
Built in the open
The demo is the product, not a video. We onboard teams a few at a time and shape Granite around how real closes actually work.
Want in early?
Granite is still early. If finishing the close correctly sounds like your problem, join the beta — or just reach out and tell us how you close today.
